The IDG Initiative
In 2015, the UN Sustainable Development Goals provided us with a comprehensive plan for a sustainable world by 2030.
However, progress is not happening fast enough. Right now, it doesn’t look like we will reach the goals in time.
There is an urgent need to increase our collective abilities to face and effectively work with complex challenges.
This is why the Inner Development Goals have been co-created and are continuing to evolve.
Together with 4000+ scientists, experts and practitioners, a framework of the capabilities, qualities and skills that are needed to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, were developed.
The IDG Framework
The IDG framework was developed by a team of international researchers after an extensive outreach consultation. It sets out to highlight in a simple, user-friendly manner, the 5 categories and the relevant capabilities, skills and qualities we should all aim to develop to live purposeful, sustainable, and productive lives. More detailed information can be found here.
The goal is to build an ecosystem that brings the world’s leading practitioners and academics on adult learning into a constructive dialogue with pioneering organisations in order to scale inner development. Organisations: companies, NGO’s and governments, have a great potential to accelerate collective learning and human growth that will enable us to achieve the systemic changes that are needed to support the targets set by the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals for 2030.
Sustainability & inner development
In this video you’ll get an idea of how the IDGs are being applied within leading organisations that are at the forefront of the dialogue on sustainability transformation and inner development. As Kjersti Fløgstad, Director of the Nobel Peace Center says here, “what we need in the world today is really change and not just talking about it”. The IDG Framework gives us the clarity of the kind of inner growth and change that is needed and has crowd-sourced wisdom or all ages and all cultures to build a constantly evolving, open source learning ecosystem. It is a continuous journey of co-creation with many participants
